Steering Budget Steering Upgrade
Jan 02, 2009 - 12:33 AM - by SCTHHLNDR
After breaking my steering gear and bending a tie rod (slid into a ditch during the ice storm we had last week) I did some research talking with others this seemed to be the best upgrade I could do on my budget.

I started off installing a used steerig gear out of a 99 Dodge Durango. This was the simplest thing Ive ever done to my TJ. After warming up the garage I got started

First remove the coolant res. to give you access to the bolt that holds the steering shaft to the gear. Lock your steering wheel in place so you dont mess up and spin it while your working on it.

Armor and Protection 33 Engineering Transfer Case Skid Plate
Dec 20, 2008 - 2:16 PM - by Joel
I have been wanting a 33 Engineering transfer case skid for about 4 years now. I had ordered one back in September for Harlan but it didn't arrive until last week. In my opinion the 33 Engineering skid is one of the best designs out there. It is a two piece design that includes a bolt on crossmember and the skid plate itself. This allows you to drop the skid without having to support the transmission and transfercase with a jack or jackstand. Installation will take roughly 2 hours.

I purchased the steel version although there is an aluminum version available for another $50. This writeup is specifically for 97-02 manual TJ's.

Durhamtown Offroad Park, Georgia
Nov 10, 2008 - 10:01 PM - by Corky
I tagged along with a friend to do some motorcycle riding at a place called Durhamtown in Union Gap, Georgia. Its just east of Atlanta.

First if you are a motorcycle guy, this trip is worth every travel minute. All I can say in the way of tracks, trails and stuff for bikes/ATV's is WOW!

They just opened up a new 4x4 section not too long ago. The pictures on the website does not do it justice. 1600+ Acres for 4x4's alone of which right now 5 or 6 trails are now cut. They have some rock garden areas just to play, whoops, cuts and lots of playgrounds. The trails while are not extreme there are two trails that offer difficulty and I can only imagine how it would change with some water.

The 4x4 section is very virgin, and talking to the owner he is ready to go heavy in that direction. He is very interested in suggestions and improvements. Looking at their MX facilities and trails and you know he is ready to spend some time.

Pretty sweet Google map that somebody took the time to create. Shows nearly all trails in the SE and many across the nation.
